The Achievers Glossary

The following terms are frequently a part of the achiever's vocabulary

Accomplishment – something you have done, succeed in, or completed.
Achieve – to gain by work or effort, to accomplish a task or goal.
Acknowledge – to recognize or to express thanks for, to affirm.
Act – To move from one point to another; to be in motion; to move forward.
Action plans – plans intended to carryout predetermined goals.
Advisory Board – sometimes referred to as a “Personal Board of Directors,” a group of individuals who generously agree to offer advice and serve as a sounding board for the evaluation of strategies, tactics, and operational matters.
Affirmation – a positively worded phrase that supports a goal and is personal and in present tense.
Alignment – when everything is arranged in a way that harmoniously supports the whole
Aspiration – a strong desire to achieve a goal.
Backward planning – a strategy in which you visualize a goal as achieved and then work in reverse to where you determine the steps you would have taken to achieve your goal.
Balance – equal on all sides; the outcome is a sense of well-being and ease.
Belief – what a person holds to be true; opinion, assumption, judgment.
Benchmark – a reference from which measurements may be made.
Brainstorming – a problem solving technique that involves the spontaneous contribution of ideas.
Buy in – a state of mind that occurs when an individual or group understands and commits to a goal or action plan.
Cause and effect – a direct relationship between an effort and the end result; such as thoughts being causes and outcomes or conditions being the effect.
Clarity – focus; a clear way of seeing something.
Coach – a person who is committed to championing a person's success.
Completion – when something is whole; has integrity; all the pieces are there.
Contingency plan – an alternative or backup plan, allowing for the unexpected to occur.
Conversation – a way of communicating and interacting with another person.
Design – to make something happen intentionally.
Devise – to plan; a plan of action.
Dream – to conceive of or devise, an aspiration, desire, goal, hope.
Dynamic – an energetic force that is intense, exuberant, unstoppable, in motion, full speed ahead, moving forward.
Energy – a force; a potential; the ability to move.
Enrollment – sharing your vision in such a way that other people get excited.
Everything counts – every thought, decision, and action has a contributing impact of either moving you closer or further away from your goals.
Expressing – a way of communicating; conversing, relating, telling, declaring, imparting information to others.
Focus – an ability to see things clearly using different perspectives.
Fun – amusement, mirth, gaiety.
Goal – a focused and measurable plan to accomplish a desired outcome in a specific time frame. 
Goals journal – a written reference containing a summary of your goals.
Greatness – an experience marked by outstanding achievement or importance.
Happiness – enjoyment, pleasure, feeling good.
Harmony – when all things work together in unison.
Inertia – a tendency of matter to remain at rest or in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.
Intermittent reinforcement – receiving some type of reward just often enough to keep you on the right track.
Introspection – the art of looking inward to better understand and capture your true feelings.
Linkage – the connection of missions, visions, values, philosophies,  goals and action plans.
Love – a way of being; that which has deep meaning and significance for you.
Mastermind – a technique where people join to provide advice or council in the selection of and pursuit of goals.
Measurable – capable of being evaluated using specific criteria.
Mission statement – an earnest declaration of who you are, why you exist, and what you intend to accomplish, a reason for being.
Momentum – force of a moving body; gained in goal achievement by developing a plan that sustains forward action.

Motivate – to inspire action.
Movement – relocation of something from one place to another.
Murphy’s law – the concept that whatever can go wrong will go wrong, often when least expected.
Opportunities – the variety of ways of accomplishing something favorable.
Participation – involvement; making something happen.
Partnership – relationships with people who can help you make your dreams come true.
Passion – feeling turned on, energized, excited, enthusiastic; going full out, aligning mind,
  body, heart; provides access to power.
Performance standards – indicate the level of results expected for each goal; indicating progress toward a goal and a determination of when a goal has been achieved.
Philosophy Statement – a statement developed to provide guiding ideologies concerning matters of ethics, quality
standards, values and beliefs
Plan of Action – a determined structure for achieving a goal.
Play – to engage in, undertake, perform.
Possibility – something that is conceivable, a belief that something can happen; a powerful force.
Power – a form of energy, such as owning your own power; also a form of empowerment.
Process – a collection of activities structured to produce a particular output.
Projects – a unit of measure for accomplishing something; an accomplishment with a specific,
measurable result; the way to bring your aspirations into tangible form.
Purpose – who you are in the world; work that you have chosen to do in the world;
where passion comes from; what turns you on.
Quantifiable – something that can be measured or counted.
Relationships – a way of being with another person or other people or things.
Resources – tools that are available to help you make your dreams come true, including people,
places, things, and you.
Result – an accomplishment; something complete and whole that stands alone; something
that can be identified and measured.
Scheduling – setting a timetable to assign a date by which something will happen.
Scheme – a plan of action.
Specific – an individual unit that is identifiable in time and space.
Step – that which moves you forward.
Strategy – a way of doing something; the how of getting something accomplished.
Success – a self-defined way of being, the outcome of which is a feeling of joy and accomplishment.
Tactics – the specific items to get you into action on making your vision come true.
Unlimited – no restrictions or limitations on what you want to accomplish.
Unstoppable – to keep going, no matter what happens.
Values – a way of being; a way of living your life.
Vision – forming a clear picture of what you want to accomplish or create, in advance of planning.
Visualization – forming visual images for the purpose of creating a mental blueprint to implement a plan.
Vitality – a level of energy and usefulness that one may have when living life on purpose.
Way of being – the expression of someone living a life in passion.
Way of living – unlimited; no restrictions; anything goes.
Whole – something that is, or someone who is, complete and intact and has all the pieces.
Work – optimally, an expression of who you are in the world.
